If abnormal new vessels develop, laser treatment is usually performed. For persistent vitreous hemorrhages, retinal detachment, or macular pucker formation, surgery may be necessary. Retinal Vascular Occlusion Treatment may be necessary in patients with blood clotting abnormalities.
